Tips on how to Maximize on your Vacation Time

You are lucky if you can get a 30-days’ vacation to enjoy with your loved once every year. In the modern economy, businesses would rather have you out on a weekend or a weekday afternoon. The competition in the market place is such that any serious business cannot afford to have its key players out for more than 3 days. This calls for creative ways to maximize on the short time you have for your own merriment. Below are a few things you can do to get the most out of your time.

Plan Ahead

If you know you will have a weekend away at the end of the month, start making your travel arrangements early. Book your flight, make reservations for your accommodation, arrange for ground transport and pack your travel gear early. This ensures that upon leaving the office on the selected date, you will just take a quick shower and be on the move. You won't have to waste a lot of time packing and preparing.

Don't travel too far

You cannot have a 3-day vacation and use two of the days on travelling, instead plan your vacation somewhere near. A trip to the Caribbean would not be wise. A vacation in Miami will suffice.

Never carry your office with you

Smartphones, tablets and laptops have literally become the modern office. If you carry these items with you, trust me; you will not be having a vacation - you will just be mixing business with pleasure. Business executives have seen their divorce rates triple in the last 30 years because families have taken a distant second in their order of priorities. All the money in the world is useless if you do not have someone to share it with. Leave the 'office' at the office.

Change your mindset

You cannot have a good vacation and maximize the short time you have if you have not divorced your mind from the office. You must consciously plan to have a good time. Oh, and do not over think. Holidays are not supposed to be filled with commonsense. Enjoy the moments while it last.

However busy you are in the office, the body always requires some time off. You do not want to risk burning out at the tender age of 40. The secret is in taking time to enjoy with your family and having some 'me time'. Treat and pamper yourself a little, will you?
